4th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit starts in Itanagar

In Arunachal Pradesh the 4th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit starts in Itanagar on Wednesday.<br/><br/>It is being organized by Sustainable Development Forum Arunachal Pradesh, under the aegis of Integrated Mountain Initiative.<br/><br/>This three day summit which starts on Wednesday is being participated by legislators, scholars, experts and organizations from all the Himalayan states and others along with participants from Nepal and Bhutan.<br/><br/>The 4th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit-2015 was declared open by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Wednesday evening at Banquet Hall in Itanagar.<br/><br/>This year the theme of the three day summit is Disaster Risk Reduction, Mountain Agriculture and Forest.<br/><br/>A number of events are also being planned in this 3 day summit. Some of which are the Indian Himalayan Policy makers' dialogue and the 4th Indian Himalayan Legislators' meet which is expected to have the participation of around 80 legislators form all the Himalayan states.<br/><br/>Union Minister of State Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar, who could not attend the event, in a video message, has congratulated Integrated Mountain Initiative for successfully organizing the event and envisaged a meeting with MPs from all the Himalayan States in the coming winter session for discussion.<br/><br/>Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in his speech said that these Mountain states are poorly represented in the Parliament and emphasized the creation of a separate Ministry for Himalayan states.
