490 GCs from 10 friendly countries passed out from Indian Military Academy

As many as 490 Gentleman Cadets (GCs) including 67 foreign GCs from ten friendly countries passed out from the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun today.<br/><br/>Chief of Army Staff, General, Bippin Rawat reviewed the passing out Parade. AIR Correspondent reports that the Gentleman Cadets displayed tremendous enthusiasm, vigor and zeal, putting up an excellent show, marching with pride and 'lan. Out of 423 GCs who have commissioned into the Indian Army today, the highest number of 74 GCs is from Uttar Pradesh followed by 49 from Haryana and 40 from Uttarakhand. <br/><br/>The coveted award of Sword of Honour was presented to Avinash Chettri. Addressing on the occasion General Bippin Rawat asked the newly commissioned officers to remain prepared to face the traditional and non traditional security challenges in the country. Interacting with media, General said that the Kashmiri youths are being instigated and misguided through social media. He said the army in Jammu & Kashmir is to protect the people and not to embroil with them. He however, said that the situation in Kashmir has been improved.
