49 lakh people benefitted through EPF schemes: Nirmala Seetharaman

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Seetharaman today said that the Government had taken three major decisions with regard to the benefit of the social sector. Speaking at a function at the Employees Fund Organisation, she told that EPFs mandatory was enhanced from 6000 to Rs 15,000. Noting that 49 lakh people were benefited all over India through the EPF schemes, the Minister said that the minimum pension was raised to Rs. 1000 per month which had an additional burden of Rs 500 crore to Rs 3000 crore. Speaking to news persons on the sidelines of the meeting, Ms Nirmala Seetharaman said people should volunteer to give information to the Government on dumping of Chinese crackers She also appealed to the people to dedicate themselves to keep the public places clean and spend at least one hundred hours in doing the cleaning mission.
