Life in Sikkim has completely been thrown out of gear following a forty eight hour long State Bandh call given by the Labour wing of the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front ( SDF ) Party. The Bandh has been organized in support of their 31- point demands which include top priority to the locals in recruitment by various central government PSUs and private sector industrial units functioning in the State. The All Sikkim Democratic Labour Front leaders have accused these Units of allegedly discriminating against the locals in employment and service conditions vis-a vis those from outside the State, AIR Gangtok correspondent reports that the Bandh has adversely affected the tourism industry with a large number of tourists canceling their bookings.
