47th International Film Festival of India concludes at Goa

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore has said that the government will support films that win international awards. He said the government will treat international award winning films the way it treats the sports persons that win awards in the international competitions. <br/><br/>Col Rathore was addressing the closing ceremony of International Film Festival of India at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim, Goa this evening. Col. Rathore said, films can be made by anyone who has good idea. <br/><br/>He said there is great potential and opportunity in the country for film makers. Col. Rathore said government is taking all efforts to digitalise whole spectrum of services available to the citizens and convergence of array of services to empower citizens through Mobile technology is happening. <br/><br/>He said, the Film Facilitation Office (FFO) set up by the government is a step towards facilitating single window clearance for film makers, promote India as a filming destination and provide the platform for film tourism in the country. <br/><br/>Iranian film Daughter bagged the Best film award at the IFFI with a cash prize of 40 lakh rupees. Iranian actor Farhad Aslani won the Best Actor (male) award for his portrayal of the strict father in the same film 'Daughter.<br/><br/>The Best Director award was given to Baris Kaya and Soner Caner for the Turkish film Rauf. Elina Vaska won the Best Actress Award for the Latvian film "Fellow Mud". Special Jury award was given to Lee Joon-ik for the Direction of the movie "The Throne".<br/><br/>The ICFT -UNESCO Gandhi Medal was awarded to Turkish film maker Mustafa Kara's 'Cold of Kalandar'. Canadian multi-lingual film 'The Apology' won the Special Mention under the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal competition.<br/><br/>The Closing ceremony witnessed glitz and glamour through the scintillating musical performances representing a rich musical culture of India composed by Sachin Jigar. SS Rasjamouli, Director of blockbuster film Baahubali was chief guest at the closing ceremony. Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar were among those present on the occasion.
