In Nepal, 450 disqualified Maoist combatants were discharged today from the UN monitored cantonment at Dasrathpur in Surkhet district at function held in the presence of the representatives of Nepal government, the UN and the Maoists. Out of 630 disqualified combatants in this cantonment, the remaining have already left for their homes before the discharge exercise began.<br/><br/>The formal discharge of over 4000 disqualified Maoist which began on January 7 is scheduled to be wrapped up this month. They were disqualified by the UN during the verification process in 2007.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Nepal, the Unified CPN (Maoist) has proposed that issues relating to determining the number and criteria of verified Maoist combatants to be integrated into the security forces be delegated to the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM).<br/><br/>Talking to newsmen after a meeting of the Special Committee on supervision, integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants in Kathmandu today, the Maoist leader and special committee member Janardan Sharma has said the special committee is giving final shape on the modality of the integration process.
