In Uttar Pradesh, about 45 per cent voters exercised their franchise till 5 p.m. for second phase of three tier local body polls. Voting was continuing till 6 in the evening. In Mirzapur and Chandauli district, voting was concluded at 5.30 p.m. Quoting the State Election Commission, our Allahabad Correspondent reports that maximum about 64 per cent voting has taken place at Baghpat district while minimum about 31 per cent voting has taken place at Allahabad. Polling for Seesamau ward in Kanpur has been countermanded as name of a candidate was misprinted. ‘In Agra, 16 persons were arrested for indulging in scuffle with rival groups and pelting stones on poll and police personnel. The Commission has directed the Additional District Magistrate- City and Additional Superintendent of Police- Crime to conduct the probe into the incident. ‘ In most of the Municipal Corporations, voters turnout was not very encouraging.
