The Centre today said 432 State Private universities are functioning in the country as of the 31st of last month.<br />''  <br />'' In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhash Sarkar said, the list of private universities is maintained by University Grant Commission (UGC) and it also keeps a tab on the fulfilment of criteria in terms of faculty, infrastructure facility and other essential things.<br />''  <br />'' He further said, there is no proposal pending with UGC for the inclusion of names of private universities in the list of universities.
