43 killed in Iraq hotel fire

In Iraq, at lest 43 people have been killed and 23 others wounded in a fire at a hotel in the northern Kurdish city of Sulaimaniyah. Police source said many of the dead were from Bangladesh, Philippine and Thailand adding four Americans were among the dead. The fire occurred early this morning at the Somo hotel in Sulaimaniyah. At least six of the victims jumped from the fourth floor of the hotel because of the fire. Hospital source said most of the dead were killed because of the heavy smoke. Local police said the incident does not look like a terrorist attack but a result of an electricity problem. Sulaimaniyah, located in the northern Kurdish autonomous region, enjoys relative peace and many foreigners visit the area for tourism and business every year.
