In Jammu and Kashmir , 420 Schemes have been sanctioned in Jammu province under centrally Sponsored Prime Ministers’ Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) programme at an estimated cost of 1410.42 crores rupees for covering 947 habitations. Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Jammu told AIR News in Jammu that so far an expenditure of 478.01 crore rupees has been incurred under the Scheme and 472 habitations have been connected which is 49.84 percent achievement. He further stated that 121 road schemes have been completed and a fair weather length of 1400 kms has been achieved besides 210 road and bridge schemes have been sanctioned under the programme for a road length of 1215.59 kilometers costing 760 crores rupees which are under process of award. The Chief Engineer further informed that due to the persistent efforts of State Government and follow-up action with Union Ministry of Rural Development, the department has succeeded in facilitating release of 284 crores rupees for programme funds towards the ongoing works of PMGSY in the state.
