42 reference glaciers with long-term measurements have melted away, says World Meteorological Oganisation

The World Meteorological Oganisation (WMO) has announced that 42 reference glaciers with long-term measurements have melted away. The World Glacier Monitoring Service was tracking the movement of the naturally occurring phenomenon. WMO report, presented at the ongoing COP28 in Dubai, says the period between 2011 and 2020 was the warmest decade on record. The alarming report also highlighted that the global temperatures have risen by 1.10 degrees Celsius since the pre-industrial times average.
