The 41st International film festival of India, IFFI 2010 will open at Panaji in Goa Monday evening. The ten day long festival will be inaugurated by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee and eminent film producer Yash Chopra will be the chief guest. More than 300 films from 61 countries are to be screened in different sections.Eighteen films including three from India will compete for the prestigious Golden Peacock award.Described as the richest film festival of the world, IFFI 2010 offers 90 lakh rupees prize money in different categories.AIR correspondent reports, Goa is all set to host one of the biggest film festivals of the world, the 41st edition of the International film festival of India. The ten day long film extravaganza is to unfold this evening at Panaji in a glittering opening ceremony to be attended by VVIPS and eminent film personalities from India and abroad.From this year onwards the competition section has been opened to films from across the world. Apart from Golden Peacock for best film and silver peacock for best director awards for best actor and actress have been introduced in IFFI 2010.The Indian panorama, depicting the rich and diverse film culture of the host country will have 47 movies including 26 feature films. Special screening of movies in association with the Golden Jubilee of Film & Television Institute of India and platinum jubilee of Odiya cinema are some of the other highlights of the International film festival.Needless to say that the film festival is giving further fillip to Goa as internationally acclaimed tourist destination.
