The government today said, 41 projects related to Namami Gange Programme have been completed so far. <br/><br/>These projects are related to various activities including sewage insfrastructure, river front development, ghat cleaning, surface cleaning and afforestation and bio-diversity conservation. <br/><br/>In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Water Resources Sanjeev Balyan said, a total 173 projects have been sanctioned under the Namai Gange Programme with a holistic approach for cleaning of river. <br/><br/>He said, factors like non- existence of sewerage network in cities and towns of ganga basin , unplanned urbanisation , poor management of domestic waste water has led to significant quantity of untreated waste water being discharged into the river. <br/><br/>Mr Balyan said, sever initiatives have been taken to implement projects under the Namami Gange Programme.
