The country will have at least 4,000 community radio centres by the end of 2012. This was stated by Information and Broadcasting minister Ambika Sonia in New Delhi on Thursday. Speaking at a workshop organised by ministry of rural development on how to strengthen local self governance, Ms Soni said her ministry is giving top most priority to awareness programmes through Akashwani and Doordarshan.Rural Development Minister C P Joshi called for synergising between these two ministries to educate people about many welfare schemes launched for the rural households of the country.
