400 members contingent from Pak to take part in South Asian Games: Sports Minister

Union Sports Minister Sarbanand Sonowal said, Pakistan will send over 400 members contingent to take part in the upcoming South Asian Games. Interacting with media persons in Guwahati last night along with senior officials, the minister said, for the first time in South Asian Games history, men and women will compete in all 23 events. He said, the Prime Minister will attend the inaugural ceremony on 5th of February in Guwahati. Mr. Sonowal has complemented the Assam and Meghalaya governments for their wholehearted support to make the event a grand success. Giving details on the games preparation, senior officials of the Sports ministry revealed that 150 buses will be deployed for players and officials. Chef De Mission of 8 participating countries will take stock of the preparedness from today. On the other hand, Guwahati Police Commissioner said, 50 additional companies will be deployed to ensure full proof security. Nearly 5000 players and officials will take part in the event. Prasar Bharati will be the host broadcaster of the mega event.
