The fourth unit of Surface to Air Missile Defence Project of the Bharat Dynamics Limited will be set up at Ibrahimpatnam near Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy laid foundation stone for the unit in the presence of Minister of State for Defence, Pallamraju on Sunday.

The missile manufacturing unit with a capacity of 6000 Surface to Air missiles has been set up at a cost of 2500 crore rupees and expected to begin its operations by 2016. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pallamraju said this will trigger the growth in the surrounding areas especially of allied companies and improve employment opportunities in the area. The Minister also said the missile units will also come up at Medak and Visakhapatnam in the state.
