4 rhinos translocated to Manas National Park

Four rhinos have been translocated to Manas National Park from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam. Official sources in Guwahati says that two male and two female Rhinos are released at Basbari Range of Manas National Park at Baska district. With this, eight rhinos have been translocated to Manas from Pobitora since 2008.AIR correspondent reports, under Indian Rhino Vision 2020 eight rhinos have been translocated to Manas National Park so far. The objective of Indian Rhino Vision is to attain a population of 3000 (three thousand) wild rhinos in Assam spread over seven of its Protected Area by 2020. It is a joint venture of the Assam Forest Department, WWF and International Rhino Foundation and supported by the Bodoland Territorial Council, US Fish and Wildlife Service and other organizations. To gain it, Manas National Park has been selected to be the first one. Another two rhinos will be translocated to Manas soon.
