In Uttar Pradesh, four Naxalites have surrendered before the police in Naxal-hit Sonbhadra district. All of them belonged to the Peoples War Group and were wanted in connection with a number of cases. They were active in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that two of them were from Bihar while one each from Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. The Bihar Police had declared a reward of 12 thousand rupees on the head of one of them, Guddu Singh alias Vinay. The Police say these Naxalites were involved in several criminal cases, including an attack on SP Rohtas Manu Mahraj in Bihar in March and in plotting an attack on ASP Kaimur, Upendra Sharma. They have surrendered 3 SLR rifles, 220 cartriges one hand grenade to the police.
