For the first time ever in the history of Maharashtra Assembly, a Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi was assaulted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) MLA's for taking oath in Hindi. Abu Azmi who started taking oath in Hindi was attacked by MNS leaders who created a ruckus in the house. The assembly was adjourned for half an hour amidst chaos. MNS leaders had insisted that the oath should be taken in Marathi. Meanwhile the assembly speaker Ganpatrao Deshmukh has suspended all the 4 MLA's for 4 years for misbehaving with a woman MLA and assaulting Abu Azmi. MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar has objected to the resolution and has demanded action against the SP MLA. He also said that they will go to court against the suspension of MNS MLA's. The Suspended MLA's are Ram Kadam, Vasant Gite, Shishir Shinde and Ramesh Vanjale.
