In Odisha, four Maoists including two women belonging to Kalinga Division surrendered before the police in Keonjhar today. The four rebels laid down before DIG, Western Range, Mr. Yashwant Sinha, along with one country-made pistol, 16 live cartidges at the office of Superintendent of Police in Keonjar. Police say these Maoists were involved in several criminal cases and police had declared a reward of 2 lakh rupess on the head of one of them, Sombari Munda. DIG, Mr Sinha said, the administration would provide the surrendered Maoists assistance under the Naxal Reform Package to enable them to take to return to mainstream life. He urged other Maoists to follow their example and give up arms.
