India today defeated Nepal by a solitary goal in the final match to clinch the trophy in inaugural edition of the SAFF women's football championship at Cox's bazaar in Bangladesh. <br/><br/>The first half of the final match played at the Cox's Bazaar stadium ended goal less with both the teams failing to capitalize on their chances. India then took the lead in the 65th minute of the match with Sasmita Mallick's shot off a spot kick finding the net. <br/><br/>Nepal's efforts to score an equalizer failed and India finally won the match by the lone goal to become the first Champions of the SAFF women's football tournament. India's Striker Bala Devi was adjudged the Best Player.
