In the 12th South Asian Games, India again excelled in Athletics and Shooting today. In the Track and Field events, it claimed 10 Gold, 7 Silver and 1 Bronze on the penultimate day of its events. Gold medals came in Women's 200, 1,500 and 10,000 metres races, and Javelin Throw, and Men's Triple Jump, Shot Put and 1,500 metres race. Both Men's and Women's 400 metres Hurdles also witnessed the Indian prowess. Srabani Nanda, Ranjith Maheshwari, Chithra PU, Om Prakash, Ajay Kumar Saroj and L Surya were among the winners who claimed the coveted yellow metal. Men's 4X400 metres relay also got India a Gold medal.<br/><br/>Indian shooters bagged 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze today. It got the coveted yellow metal each in Men's and Women's 50 metres Rifle Prone Individual and Team events, besides Men's 25 metre Center Fire Pistol. In Individual 50 metre Rifle Prone, Chain Singh in Men's and Kuheli Gangulee in Women's won Gold medals. Gagan Narang and Lajja Gauswami settled for a Silver each. India swept the Men's 25 metre Center Fire Pistol Final, with Samaresh Jung securing the Gold. Pemba Tamang took the Silver, while Olympic Silver medallist Vijay Kumar claimed the Bronze. In Tennis, India clinched a Gold and a Silver each in Men's Singles and Women's Doubles.<br/>Our correspondent reports, India has broken its South Asian Games record of most number of Gold medals at the multi-nation event. It had won 118 Gold in the 2006 edition, and, now it already has 135 Gold, 75 Silver and 20 Bronze, with 5 days still remaining.<br/><br/>
