But engulfed with insecurity over their quarter-final chances – they made 322 for 4 with 11 balls to spare. In Nelson they defeated Scotland by six wickets, kept themselves in contention and proved that they can successfully chase a stiff target on a big occasion. Scotland, powered by Kyle Coetzer's magnificent 156 towards their 318, lost their best chance to win a World Cup match. Coetzer's also became the first player from an Associate nation to notch up a 150. In reply to a high total, Bangladesh's senior firm – Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan – struck fifties to complete the victory.
