4 Indians short-listed for this year�s ICC Awards

In Uttar Pradesh, Raspal Singh from Indian Army today won the over 42-kilometre long 29th All India Indira Marathon in men's category while Jyoti Shankar Rao from Maharashtra stood first in the women's category. The Marathon was held at Allahabad on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi today. Both the winners participated for the first time in the event.<br/><br/>AIR Allahabad Correspondent reports that in the men's category, the first three prizes have gone in the favour of Army athletes. Ealam Singh stood first runner up and Arjun Ram second runner up. In the women's category, last year's winner Jyoti Singh from Sant Ravi Das Nagar, Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh, stood first runner up while Shyamali Singh from West Bengal was declared the second runner up.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that prize distribution ceremony will be held this afternoon at Madan Mohan Malviya stadium. A cash award of one lakh, 51 thousand rupees will be given to the winners, 80 thousand rupees for first runners up and 34 thousand rupees will be given to the second runners up in both the Men and Women categories. Eleven consolation prizes of 6 thousand rupees each will also be given. About 300 athletes across the country participated in the Marathon organised under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Sports Directorate and the district administration. The state Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Narad Rai flagged off the race from Anand Bhawan this morning.<br/><br/>A cross-country race for boys and girls below 20 years and veterans above 45 years was also organised on the occasion.
