In Meghalaya, four Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants were gunned down in an encounter in the wee hours on Tuesday in East Garo Hills district. Police said Roster Sangma, a dismissed Meghalaya Police constable-turned GNLA self-styled area commander was among those killed in the encounter with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) commandos. One police officer was also injured in the encounter. Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) G H P Raju said, the commandos also seized an MK-16 rifle, an AK-81 rifle, pistol, grenade launcher, magazines, eight hand grenades, and 332 rounds of ammunition of various calibres, two cell phones with several SIM cards and incriminating documents from the encounter site.
