4 detainees transfer to Saudi from Guantanamo Bay military prison of Cuba, says US

The United States says, it will transfer four detainees to Saudi Arabia from the Guantanamo Bay military prison of Cuba. The Obama administration is making a final push to transfer at least 19 prisoners to four countries, including Italy, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, before Donald Trump is sworn in on 20th January.

White House spokeswoman Emily Horne has said, there will be more transfers and refused to comment on the progress of individual detainee transfers until they are completed. The Obama administration notified Congress last month of its intention to make the additional transfers.

However, President -elect, Donald Trump has said all of those held at Guantanamo should remain. He tweeted that there should be no further releases from Guantanamo as the detainees are extremely dangerous people and should not be allowed back onto the battlefield. Obama's efforts to close the prison have been blocked by mostly Republican opposition in Congress, which has barred him from moving any prisoners to the U.S. mainland.
