4.9 magnitude earthquake rocks WB

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale rocked parts of West Bengal in the early hours of today. The MeT Dept said in Kolkata, the tremor, felt at 5.10 AM, had its epicentre along the Bihar-Nepal border.The duration of the quake was negligible. According to Police, there was no report of injury to anybody or loss of property.Nepal, Pakistan and Japan have also been jolted by earthquakes. The National Seismological Network of Nepal, said this was a moderate earthquake and the tremor was felt in eastern hills as well as the southeastern plains. In Pakistan, the intensity of the quake was recoded 5.1 on the Richter scale. A 6.0-magnitude quake struck northeastern Japan last night, but no tsunami warning was issued. There were no reports of any damage or casualties from any of the quakes.
