The third unit of Kaiga nuclear power plant has been restarted. Kaiga station Site Director J P Gupta, the Unit-3 was synchronised to the Southern grid at 11.25 p.m. Tuesday night after successful completion of all surveillance tests.The 220-MWe unit is currently operating at 150MWe and its power would be raised gradually. At present, all four units of the Kaiga generating stations are operational. The third unit was shut down on April 8 after a fire alarm went off. Authorities later declared the plant safe and said the level of radiation was below the prescribed standards.
