The Third Science Conclave, organised by the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, concluded on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Nobel Laureate Prof Roald Hoffmann said the most important quality needed in research is curiosity, while the most important quality needed for teaching is empathy, meaning that we must put ourselves in the mind of our audience, feel it and couple that with the desire to teach. Prof Haffman also called upon student community to focus on learning than prizes and awards.In the seven-day conclave, besides two Nobel Laureates about 40 other renowned National and International Scientists took part in various deliberations and interacted with students who attended the conclave. About 1,500 students from secondary level to University were part of this conclave.About four hundred school students from from different parts of country also participated in the conclave under the Government of India Sponsored INSPIRE programme aimed to promote basic science and inculcate attitude for research among young students.
