In Uttar Pradesh in view of the festivals of Dusshera and Durga Puja, the date for the third phase of three tier Panchayat elections has been revised. Quoting the State Election Commission sources AIR Lucknow correspondent reports now polling of third phase will take place on 22nd of this month instead of October 20. The rest of the schedule of the Panchayat elections will remain the same and polling of the fourth phase will take place on 25th of this month.Meanwhile the commission has directed all divisional commissioners and Inspector General of Police to visit sensitive and hyper sensitive polling booths and insure peaceful electioneering and polling.In the back drop of large scale violence in 2nd phase of polling across the state the commission has also directed all district magistrates and district police chiefs for insuring deposits of licensee weapons, detention of anti social elements and taking extra precautions in the areas where candidates having criminal s are in contest.
