3rd India-Arab Conference focussing on trade & investment begins in Abu Dhabi

The Third India – Arab Partnership Conference to expand and enhance trade and investment between India and the Arab world gets underway in the UAE Capital Abu Dhabi today. Leaders, Captains of Industry and financial institutions from India and the Arab world would discuss the road map to strengthen trade and commerce ties over the next two days. Indian delegation is led by the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, E.Ahmad. AIR's West Asia Correspondent reports that bilateral trade between India and the Arab world is worth $130 billion. India and has potential to grow even higher. There are huge opportunities in the region for investments and both the sides look foward to cooperate with each other in enhancing economic ties. In the wake of Arab spring, the oil and gas resources and the economic potential of the Arab world, India is trying to enhance its footprints in the region. It is backed by age old trade, commerce and cultural linkages and a large Indian diaspora in the region. In this backdrop, the India- Arab partnership Conference is significant. The event is being jointly organized by the FICCI and Abu Dhabi Chambers of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, UAE Ministry of Foreign trade and the Arab League.The Arab League has 22 members, including countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE ,Kuwait,Oman,Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria and Tunisia.
