3rd Asian Kho-Kho championship to begin in Indore on April 8

The third Asian Kho-Kho championship will begin in Indore on 8th of next month. Madhya Bharat Kho-Kho Association, MBKKA is hosting the three day event in collaboration with Asian Kho-Kho Federation and Kho-Kho federation of India. Briefing media in New Delhi today, President of MBKKA and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said, eight teams from India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Singapore, South Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will participate in the event. She said, both Men's and Women's teams will participate in the sporting event. Mrs Mahajan said, the events will be played at the Happy Wanderers Club which houses country's only indoor Kho-Kho hall. She said, over 350 players and officials will assemble at Indore for the event. The Speaker said, Indian sports, specially rural sports should be encouraged more as it connects people with the ground. She said, sports played more in the rural areas are still neglected. She said, sports like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi must be encouraged. She said, sports has a big role in bringing discipline in the youth. AIR correspondent reports, the first Asian Kho-Kho championship was organized in Bangladesh in 1995 while the second was in Kolkata in 2000.
