38 member Congress-NCP ministry led by Ashok Chavan sworn in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, a 38-member Congress-NCP ministry headed by Mr. Ashok Chavan was sworn in today. Governor S C Jamir administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Chavan and 26 Cabinet Ministers, and 11 Ministers of State at an impressive ceremony at the Mumbai Raj Bhavan this evening. NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, who will be deputy chief minister, was also sworn in. The Council of Ministers consists of 18 members of Congress and 20 from the NCP. Former ministers R R Patil, Rajendra Darda, Laxmanrao Dhoble, Anil Deshmukh and Jaidutt Kshirsagar have made a come back into the new cabinet ministers . Ministers of state in the previous government Naseem Khan, Suresh Shetty and Hasan Mushrif were elevated to cabinet rank. AIR Correspondent reports that a large number of dignitaries, including Central Ministers AK Antony, Vilasrao Deshmukh, party MPs, and newly elected MLAs were present on the occasion.
