3,700 vehicles prosecuted in New Delhi for traffic violation

In New Delhi, over 3,700 vehicles, majority of them mini-buses, ferrying students to schools were challaned in the national capital this year for various traffic violations.<br/><br/>According to Delhi Police statistics, only one accident involving a school bus took place in the capital this year in which one student was injured as against 39 last year.<br/><br/> A total of 3,772 vehicles carrying children to schools were prosecuted in the city this year which includes 3,561 mini-buses for bending traffic rules as well as violating Supreme Court guidelines regarding operating school buses.<br/><br/>While three students were killed and 40 injured in accidents involving school buses in 2007, there were fortunately no deaths in 2008, 2009 and also this year so far.<br/>
