In Uttar Pradesh, 36 people were killed and at least 20 injured in a road accident in Badaun district last evening. The superintendent of police of Badaun, Ashok Kumar told AIR that the incident occurred when a U.P. Roadways bus collided head on with another Mini truck on Bareilly-Mathura road under Kotwali Ujhani police station area. 15 people died on the spot while 21 succumbed to injuries in district hospital. State government has announced financial assistance of Rs. two lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. Rs. 50,000 will be given to those who are seriously injured. Most of the victims belonged to a local village and they were returning from a cremation ground.
