The 35th Kolkata Book Fair began at the Milan Mela premises of Salt Lake City in Kolkata on Tuesday. The Fair was inaugurated by the American Writer Richard Ford, who had won the Pulitzer Prize. The West Bengal Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya was the Chief Guest. Also present at the function was the US Ambassador to India Mr. Timorthy J. Roemer. The theme of this year’s Book Fair is America. More than Five hundred Stalls are their in the Fair. There is no entry free to the fair this year as the Book Seller’s and Publishers Guild had decided to wave of the charge as mark of respect to Rabindranath Tagore, whose 150th Birth Anniversary is being celebrate in this year. Lakhs of book lovers are expected to visit the Kolkata Book Fair which ends on the 6th of February.
