3,500 km Desert Safari flagged off in Varanasi

A 3,500 km Desert Safari was today flagged off in Varanasi by the Mathura-based One Strike Corps of Indian Army to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of 1965 Indo-Pak War.<br/><br/>The General Officer Commanding of Red Eagle division, Major Gen P C Thimmaiya flagged off the Desert Safari. <br/><br/>The One Strike Corps is conducting the 10-day gypsy rally on behalf of the 'Sapta Shakti' Command.<br/><br/>The journey began from Varanasi and will traverse through Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana before terminating in New Delhi on August 28.<br/><br/>The aim of the rally is to honour and memorialize the heroes of the Nation who had made supreme sacrifice during the Indo-Pak War in 1965.
