In Bihar, at least 35 people were killed as the Rajya Rani Express ran over them at Dhamahra Ghat railway station near Saharsa district today morning. Bihar ADG (Law and Order) S K Bhardwaj told AIR that the death toll may rise. The injured people have been rushed to the nearby hospitals in Saharsa.
According to sources the train ran over the people who were getting off a local train at the railway station. AIR Correspondent reports, there is complete chaos at the accident spot as agitating people are holding protest against railway officials at the station. Most of the dead are women devotees who were going to attend Shiv Puja.
After the sad incident, an angry mob torched down a part of ther train. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed condolences to the incident and instructed to start relief work immediately.
