35 killed, 140 injured in Iraq bombings

In Iraq, Thirty five persons were killed and 140 others were wounded today as a result of a number of blasts that hit the capital Baghdad today. Voice of Iraq news agency quoting official spokesperson Qassem Ata has reported that the latest toll from the series of blasts targeted residential buildings in Baghdad’s areas of al-Shula, Allawi, al-Shurta al-Khamisa and al-Ilam neighbourhood.The number of dead persons is likely to increase. Ambulances have been pressed in to service and emergency service workers rushed to the scenes of the blasts. A large plume of smoke rose from near a destroyed building in the neighbourhood of Allawi, central Baghdad.The building housed several apartments with shopfronts on its ground floor.
