340 crore spent under National Rural Health Mission in J&K

Since its implementation in the December 2005, about 340 crore rupees have been spent under National Rural Health Mission against the total availability of around 470 crore rupees till January 2011 across Jammu and Kashmir. The grants in this regard are provided to the State by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the State’s contribution of 15 percent. Mission Director, NRHM J&K, Dr. Yashpal Sharma told AIR that in order to achieve the targeted objectives of the Mission, the said amount has been spent on strengthening of health institutions providing primary health care, routine immunization and improving the services determining health of society.
