In Pakistan, the ethnic and political violence in the port city of Karachi has claimed 34 lives during the last 24 hours. Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has asked Interior Minister Rehman Malik to rush to Karachi to discuss peace efforts with the authorities. Mr.Rehman Malik vowed to crush the miscreants as he arrived in the violence-hit city on Tuesday morning. There had been sharp increase in violence and local reports said that 29 people were killed and scores of others were injured. Local media reported that about 60 vehicles were also torched on Monday in different parts of the city. Reports also said, five people were shot dead early on Tuesday.
