33rd Cairo Intl Film Fest gets massive response from Egyptian audiences

The ongoing 33rd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) is getting massive response from Egyptians and other Arab audiences. India is the guest of honour and noted Indian film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan is heading the three member Jury.The ten-day long festival was inaugurated by the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Mr. Farouk Hosni.The Indian Ambassador in Egypt Mr. R Swaminathan and Director, Directorate of Film Festival Mr. S.M.Khan was also present on the occasion. One of the oldest film festival in the Middle East, the CIFF will showcase around 25 Indian films out of 150 movies from 67 countries during the festival.The Indian films which are being screened in the festival include Adoor Gopalkrishnan’s Naalu Pennungal (Four Women), Mira nair’s Amelia, Kabir Khan’s New York, and 'Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai (First Time)' by Krishna Seshadri Gomatam , while Priyadarshan’s Kanchivaram and Roopa Ayyer's film Mukhaputa have also been selected for screening along with films from 17 participating countries including United States, Canada, China, France, Italy, Spain and Arab and African countries.
