In Assam, 32 militants belonging to National Democratic Front of Bodoland and one of ULFA laid down arms before the authorities at Tezpur in Sonitpur district today. Five women cadres were among the surrendered militants.They surrendered three AK-47 rifles, 24 pistols, nine hand grenades and several incriminating documents before the G.O.C. Four Corps of the Army Lt. General Shakti Gurung and the Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur district Tapan Chandra Sharma. Welcoming the militants to the mainstream of the society, G.O.C. Shakti Gurung appealed to them to contribute for restoration of peace and development in Assam.
