326 villages in Assam affected in recent flood

In Assam, 326 villages in eight districts have been affected in recent flood. New areas were inundated in Lower Assam today. 53 hectare of crop area in 20 villages got submerged today in Barpeta district. Flood water also damaged roads and river embankments at many places.<br/><br/>Overall, nearly 19 thousand hectare of agriculture land is inundated due to floods in nine districts. 4 thousand 600 people are taking shelter at temporary relief camps in three districts and administrations have distributed relief materials.<br/><br/>Kamrup Metro district administration has appealed people to vacate the landslide prone areas. Several landslide cases have been reported in greater Guwahati city during last few days, claiming lives of at least five persons. Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro said that repeated warnings issued to the residents have been ignored, resulting damage to properties.
