Sri Lankan Navy today arrested 32 Indian fishermen on charges of violating international maritime boundary line.
Confirming the news to All India Radio, Sri Lanka Navy Spokesman Kosala Warnakulasurya said that the fishermen were caught very near the shore of Delft Island in the early hours today. He said that the fishermen and their 8 boats will be handed over to the fisheries authorities today.
Before the latest arrest, 116 Indian fishermen were in Sri Lankan custody. The second round of talks on the issue between the officials of the two countries will take place in Colombo on the 13th ot this month.
