313 ballot boxes selected on random basis for recounting of Afghan Prez Election

In Afghanistan, ballot boxes from 313 polling stations have been identified for sample recounting and to determine the extent of fraud in around 12 percent of total polling stations. UN-backed Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) said in a statement that the ballot boxes were selected on random basis out of 3063 polling stations in the presence of candidate agents and observers. These ballot boxes spread all over the country will be brought to capital Kabul for recounting and auditing and the whole process is expected to take about two weeks. Incumbent President Mr. Hamid Karzai has got 54.6 percent votes in the preliminary results announced last week.But his victory is subject to outcome of recounting and announcement of final certified results.
