31 cr to be spent in 5 years for promoting sports in JK

Under the centrally sponsored scheme of, Nehru Yuva Kreeda and Khel Abhiyan, NYKK an amount of 31 crore rupees is being spent in five years for promoting sports in the Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by J&K Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R. S. Chib. He said, each block and panchayat, under this scheme, would get sports stadium. Out of the total amount, 16 crore rupees would be incurred in Kashmir while 15 crore rupees in Jammu division for the purpose. The Minister said State government has initiated various schemes for promoting education and sports besides providing of employment opportunities to the youth. He said government contemplates to provide drawing and disbursing powers to 200 zonal officers of Youth Services and Sports department which would help promote sports activities in each and every area. The Minister said Congress party would extend full cooperation to Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah and said Jammu and Kashmir would be developed as model state.
