The Director-General of Police (DGP) Nagaland T John Longkumer said, 30 members of the operation team of 21 Para Special Forces have been charge-sheeted for December 4 Oting firing incident in Mon district.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''Addressing media at Police Complex, Chumoukedima today, the Police Chief said the charge sheet was made against one major, two subedars, one havildar/THM, 4 naiks, six &nbsp;lance naiks, and nine paratroopers.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Longkumer said the CID report seeking sanction for prosecution is forwarded to the Department of Military Affairs and sanction is still awaited. Meanwhile, a charge sheet has been filed pending sanction for prosecution against 30 accused. &nbsp;<br />''<br />''The DGP further said, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on December 4, 2021 Oting firing incident after completion of its investigation submitted the charge sheet to the District &amp; Sessions Court, Mon on May 30, 2022.&nbsp;<br />''&nbsp;<br />''He said, a thorough investigation was carried out by the SIT by collecting various pieces of evidence. During the investigation, it was revealed that on December 4, 2021, operation team of 21 Para SF which laid an ambush at Longkhao between Upper Tiru and Oting village opened fire at a vehicle carrying civilians.<br />''<br />''Investigation revealed that the operation team did not follow the standard operating procedure and the rules of engagement and resorted to indiscriminate firing leading to the killing of occupants of the vehicles on the spot and seriously injuring 2 others.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The DGP informed that the villagers of Oting&nbsp;and Tiru reached the incident place in search of the missing villagers. The situation turned violent upon discovering dead bodies and a scuffle ensued between the villagers and the Para SF. One security person succumbed to injuries and 14 from 21 Para Security Forces sustained injuries. This led to an order to open fire at around 2200 hours.</span><br />
