At least 30 militants have been killed in a Pakistani air strike near the Afghan border today. Pak military said, following a tip-off, a militant hideout was hit in the Shawal mountains of South Waziristan killing 30 of them. Reports said the offensive was closely monitored by Pakistan's Nato allies in Afghanistan. The area is considered a haven for al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters.Meanwhile, terrorists mounted suicide attacks on two police stations in northwest Pakistan today, killing an officer and injuring nine people, including a woman constable. Officials said, the attacks on the police stations in Balakot and Mansehra towns in North West Frontier Province occurred within minutes of each other. According to police, a suicide bomber blew himself at the police station in Balakot when guards prevented him from entering the building. Police station chief Khalil Khan was killed and five injured. In nearby Mansehra town, a group of militants lobbed a grenade and fired at a police station. This triggered a shootout in which one of the militants was killed.Police said the slain militant was a suicide bomber.
