In the Kashmir valley, army and state police in a joint operation today killed three terrorists in the frontier district of Kupwara. Police sources told AIR that on a tipoff the forces launched an operation at Laribal near Hundwara in the wee hours. In the ensuing gunbattle the ultras belonging to Lashkera Toyba were killed. As the security forces were closing in on the militant hideout, the ultras opened firing. The security forces retaliated, triggering a fierce gunbattle. The operation was in progress when reports last came in.
